Banana Lotae (L) and Strawberry Lopae (R) - collectively known as "Fruit Salad" These kids are the future headliners of the Calgary Folkfest, where I spent the day today. They were by far the highlight. They were roaming around, basically busking. They told us they'd entertain us for a donation. or none. they were sooo amusing. I gave them $7 so they could both get lemonade after a good half hour of entertainment including plays, songs, the chicken dance and the moonwalk, among other things. damn were they funny. They had apparently met the day before and were hanging out ever since. they had stage names and a target audience and everything (I quote Strawberry: "You (people between the ages of 20-27) have the highest demand for our artform". and this from a 10 year old). watch for them coming to a folkfest near you!! posted by kim | 6:33 p.m.|
