I start way too many posts with the word so..
I'm wasting away my days lately in Crowsnest Pass. The pass is an interesting place, you see there is nearly no men between the ages of 18 and 35, they've all either left the pass for good, or work in Ft. McMurray. Proably all for the best. Also, I'm working in an ice cream establishment. when people leave, they say "see ya", not "see you" or "see ya later", just "see ya". I say "have a nice night" cuz that's just how I am.
I went to the legion last night for the first time in my life. Interesting. reminded me of a social. I guess, like the social is a canadian prarie institution, the legion is a canadian small town (and big town, just not quite in the same way) institution. it was interesting. here's my attempts at ordering a beer (over loud, bad country music):
me: "what do you have on tap"
sheila (our 50-something server): "canadian"
me: "do you have grasshopper?"
shelia: "I'll ask the bartender if she knows how to make one, do you know what goes in it?"
me: "what do you have for beer?"
her: "ok I'll get you a beer"
I ended up with a canadian.
according to the election signs there's only one party in the pass. the conservatives. lucky for me (and everyone else) there seems to be discontent, and no one I talk to really plans on voting for them. not that they know who else to vote for. but they all say "not the conservatives", they claim they don't trust stephen harper (but they think paul martin's slimy too). other day someone said they thought the other parties weren't advertising because they were trying to prove their fiscal restraint. don't know if they were joking or not.
anyhow, am in calgary for a few days, then it's back to the pass for me. I kinda like the pass, although don't think I'd be able to live there.

so now that I'm back in canada and there's this election going on and all, and I happen to find myself living in Rob Anders' riding you'd think that I'd have loads to post about... like my dreams of running around at night with a big black sharpie.. or at least complaining about the Green Party being excluded from the debates, or maybe even how sadly unimpressed I am with Jack Layton.. but I really don't feel like posting.. maybe later..

am killing time right now at the Vienna airport. only 5 hours to go, actually not even, boarding starts in 4 hours and 50 min. yay!
have already plowed through "shopaholic goes to manhattan" or whatever it's called, and am now over 100 pages into "high fidelity".. it's going to be a long day...
and am on north american keyboard and can't seem to get used to it.. bad sign..
entertainment at the airport has included nice pakistani taxi driver chatting with me cuz apparently I needed to smile.. he came back when he got off work and told me to have a nice flight and a safe trip home.. he was genuinely nice.. then an airport worker decided to come sit down beside me and eventually asked me for my phone number so he could move to canada and we could live together.. I told him that I had no phone and was homeless (only half lie, I have no phone of my own) so he went back to work (like 10 feet from me) and his coworkers were loudly making fun of him for being rejected.. I decided it was time for me to go through into the passanger part of the airport so I could possibly avoid anymore unwanted attention, really all I want to do is read my book and try not to sleep and ignore people. and I'm hungry, food is nowhere to be found at the moment, that whole nothing's open at 2 am thing.. must get back to high fidelity..

so I'm in berlin, killing time before I get on a lovely flight to Vienna, the first of 3 I get to take to take me back to calgary..
I really don't feel like posting right now, Berlin's been great, went to the film museum and the story of berlin.. stayed at a not too bad hotel and just basically hung out.. oh ya and went shopping and spent way too much money.. big surprise there.. I didn't want to have to exchange any money when I got home anyway!!
Dresden was cool, went to the albertine museum, which was interesting. we stayed in a sweet ass B&B.. I'll link it later..
saw the weakerthans (pretty standard weakerthans show, smaller venue than the ballroom), national anthems and Olli Schultz opened.. entertaining..
must slowly make my way to tegel airport
will come back later and add links to this post, just don't really feel like it right now
