my city is still breathing
back in the saddle

hello!
am back in bregenz, on good ol' lake constance...
nothing much exciting to report here, have 12 working days left...
got last night off work as I spent the day washing windows and cleaning floors á la cinderella and my coworkers felt sorry for me and gave me the night off.. so my friend Geli and I went to Bludenz for dinner at the good ol' interspar cafe (interspar is a supermarket for those of you who've never been to austria, by cafe I mean cafe(teria)).. got home around 8, Karin came over and we watched 3 episodes of sex and the city together in german and had a few screwdrivers, went over to Geli's for late night tea and chocolate and watched CSI and Murder She Wrote (also in German).. Lisa you would have been in heaven, 3 of your favourite shows, all in german, all on one day.. but it was pretty uneventful.. I'm starting to get ready to go, giving things away and buying gifts to bring with me and for my friends here as tokens of my thanks for taking me under their wings.. and I'm getting all nostalgic even though I've spent much of my time here bored and unimpressed (that is in Brand, I still think Brand is a boring place to live - although nice place to visit).. will now go sit on the Bodensee (lake constance) and eat some ice cream I think, think about how I shouldn't be eating it due to the mountain ass (to borrow the term the lake louise kids used to use) I've gotten from living bored in the mountains (I have no idea how it happens but everyone who goes and lives in a mountain resort town puts on like 10 pounds, you'd think they'd lose it living in a sporty place and all)

so I'm in bludenz.. the town I get to do all my grocery shopping in now that the grocery store up in good ol' Brand is closed for a month due to it being btw. seasons. yay.. the good thing about bludenz is that it has a chocolate factory. the milka chocolate factory to be exact. so the smell of choclate wafts through the town at all times, making my mouth water. unfortunately, you cannot go on tours a la willy wonka. whatever. must go catch last bus up to brand so I can do laundry before a big night of drinking rye on my friend's couch (it's their own fault for closing all the bars!!)

talked Kristin D. into joining the curling team, have decided it will replace Den nights seeing as we're all too old for the den anyhow...
Kristin and I decided we'd have shimmery tracksuits, my dad can be our coach and my mother (unbeknownst to her) will be our seamstress... come on y'all I know you all want to join in the fun!!

still in Munich..
spent the morning walking around the english gardens and the university area. am convinced that the coolest part of town in always near the uni, except in calgary (damn commuter campus!).. unis are also a good source of free, clean bathrooms.
am now sitting in a cafe called coffee fellows where I just enjoyed a bagel and am drinking a mocha.. mmmmm...
trying to get over stupid cold..
this morning left me further unimpressed with my hostel as I was awoken at 8 am (I'm sick and went to bed at 11) by the cleaner opening my door... they're not supossed to come in until 10 - I splurged for a single room so I could sleep well - and I didn't feel like being social, although that is normally my fav. part of hostel life.. eh what can you do..
I really don't like teh set up here, it makes it hard to type..
anyhow, I should get around to emailing all those people I talked about yesterday

third post, sorry
just wanted to thank y'all for the wonderful emails in the past few weeks.. and apologise for not replying, I was going to right now to many but there are too many people on msn to distract me (not that I'm complaining) and I've been here too long, and am paying for this and all..
maybe I'll try again tomorrow..

I'm putting this in a seperate post so you all don't skip over it cuz it's important...
you see, Darren, knowing my love of curling and John K. Samson, sent me this link, which you can follow to a great article called 'A Well-Placed Shot' which you all should read.. I haven't been keeping up with my cbc radio 3 since I left canada until today and am wishing I had.. I'm also wishing the headphones worked on this computer..
anyhow, get to the point Kim
so this article reminded me that me and lisa had this great plan to start a curling team.. seeing as she's moving back to calgary this fall we can finally live this dream (assuming I stay in calgary).. the problem is we need at least 3 more people (you gotta have at least one spare, right?)
so does anyone wanna curl with us this year?
not only will you get to hang out with me and lisa and drink beer and CURL, you'll give me incentive to stay in calgary.. maybe I'll get so much response to this that we'll have to start our own league..
curling skillz don't matter, cuz we don't know how to curl either....
let me know, cool kids, so I can order us matching tracksuits or something cool like that!

hey kiddies
so I'm in Munich right now. I managed to get 3 days off work so figured I'd make a trip on over here..
I got here this afternoon after a 5 hour hungover train ride. you see, last night was the last open night of the pub, ever. as you may remember, the pub is one of only 2 nightspots in lovely brand. the other, heuboda, closed for the season on saturday. I couldn't be bothered to go to the party. but for the pub I had to, I really enjoyed my time at the pub. so since it was the last night, EVER (they're turning it into hotel rooms or something) liquor was halfprice and the place was packed.. my drinks went with what was in stock. I started with a süsser radler (I think it's called a shanty in english - beer and sprite, except they were out of sprite so I got armdudler - kinda like ginger ale - instead), then I moved onto rye-water, then baileys on ice, and finished the night off with rum and coke. I really don't like rum.. I could still taste it this morning.. yuck.. so I got home around 3:30, woke up at 8 to come to munich.. I like to think I'm tired, not hungover..
today I basically just hung around Munich.. I'm staying at the International Haus, which I am, thusfar, not overly impressed with. the lady at the desk was a bag, and normally hostel staff is really friendly.. I walked around this afternoon, went for yummy yummy sushi and bought some books. Munich has some great shopping but I am being really well behaved. we'll see if my willpower will last until tomorrow!! seriously, though, they have an Armani casa store. I have never before seen armani furniture in real life. it's nice being in a city and out of the dorf. the dorf is going to be a lot smaller now that the ski season is officially over (as of April 12).. I thought it was boring before, but at least there were people and bars.. now it's going to really suck ass.. only 27 days left, though
it is a small world, though, the other day my swiss ex boyfriend (Mike)'s brother Mathias was eating dinner in my hotel. it was a really wierd thing, to see him there completely unexpected like that.. I think he was even more shocked to see me!
also I was stuffing envelopes for the hotel last week, and one of the ad. packages we were sending out was going to the next-door neighbour of my swiss family.. I'm like, hey I know that address..
anyhow, I had more to post about this morning but I can't think of it all right now so maybe I'll post again later. maybe not.. take care
