all right, so I didn't really post all weekend. but then again it was an insanely busy weekend with nothing exciting happening on it. really. I worked. I did homework. I hung out with my mother, which I always love doing. I didn't have time to watch any tv so I can't go off about current events. I didn't serve any people more annoying or idiotic than those I normally serve so I can't rant about stupid people either. on the other hand the weather's beautiful and it's been an uneventful weekend. uneventful's a good thing. I should get back to my reading....

oh look, it's another reason I avoid identifying myself as an Albertan.. the albertan energy minister Murray Smith (who is MLA for Calgary Varsity to all of his constituents who may or may not want to send him hate mail) has requested that the federal energy minister Herb Dhaliwal resign for saying that the world
"expects someone who's the president of a superpower to be a statesman. I think he's let not only Americans, but the world, down by not being a statesman."

What the hell is this? So Mr. Smith is all choked cuz the federal minister of energy is speaking up against the leader of our largest oil trading partner. He didn't even call him a bastard for f-s sakes.. relax!! He's said something that I am sure many Canadians would agree with (something one would not believe by reading any of the fine publications of the Izzy Asper Media Conglomerate that the above mentioned story came from).. Hey Murray, if the US stops buying Alberta oil for something as lame as that, I'm sure we'll be able to find other markets. Oil does seem to be quite the hot commodity these days, W. down there seems to be willing to go to war for it. Which leads me to another thing (although I don't know if I've finished the first point.. whatever), why isn't W. looking into invading Alberta and freeing us from this tyrant we have leading us - Ralph Klein? Sure he was quote-unquote democratically elected but then again he might as well have been acclaimed. Apathy has run rampant in this province. Plus, we have oil. lots of it. So, if math serves me correctly, for W. tyrant+oil=war, right? you can see where I'm going with this. I guess that's why Klein has been oh so supportive of W. and his war, he knows if he's not he might be next (!!!??). Anyhow, this is getting a little too rant like and I could go on for hours, it's just more entertaining over beer..

ok so now I guess there are a few people posting here, as hoped.. these things are so much more entertaining if it's not just one person ranting and rambling all the time.. let's just hope that the others continue to post!! on another topic, you will all be happy to know that I got some work done tonight, it has not all been procrastination.. although there has been quite a bit. anyhow.. back to the salt mines....

so just a quick note on the poll.. kb and I, and a few other people if I remember correctly, got all wrapped up in comparing The US involvement (ahem) in Iraq to playground politics... so I'm wondering who exactly Canada is. With US as the kid who failed grade 5 a few times but is able to run the playground due to his sheer size, and Germany, France and Russia as those kids who had cool older siblings so people still respect them, but aren't as cool as they were... where exactly does Canada fit into all this? answers please...

today has been an interesting day. I woke up bright and early to send out a press release for a few friends of mine who were doing an action down at the Chinese Consulste.. for info on it and to see some picks click here. it seemed to go well, I don't know how well the press took to it, or even if any got there on time but I guess we'll see tonight on the six o'clock news!! aside from that it was all right. I was having a bad day with the stutter, which was kinda shitty as I had to give a presentation to a group of second years today on weimar women and it did not seem to flow well, although I think I'm just more aware of it as it is my problem. My peers seemed to think it went just fine. After I was at the bank trying to bitch about service charges they've added to SFT Calgary's account without permission but it's hard to get respect or get things you want when you're not as fluent as you could be. eh, what can you do? it's now back to the ol' homework thing.... yay me..

ok so I guess I am just starting this, who knows.. just in case you don't know, the title here is from a weakerthan's song.. (left and leaving)... I'm procrastinating beyond belief right now, I think I have a procrastination addiction, my fix comes from that adrenaline rush one gets from doing everything at the last minute... but right now we're into the last seconds and I'm still looking for new ways to procrastinate.... anyway, we're well into this ummmm situation in Iraq, I can't call it a war, there only seems to be one side, although that's because all I get is the useless canadian and american media.. they often seem to fail to mention the other side, or maybe it's just me. anyhow, I won't editorialise, I don't feel like it right now, maybe later... anyhow. this has been fun, maybe I'll come back in a little while after I "try" to get some work done (i.e. check my email and open the ol' word processor, then get distracted and get nothing at all done...)
